Canterley Publishing is proud to announce the forthcoming publication of the ‘At War’ series of books, beginning with Tenterden at War, Rolvenden at War and High Halden at War.
Each book will tell the story of the Home Front 1939-45 – the war as it was fought by the ordinary people of each town and village in this corner of Kent. From the women who drove ambulances and pulled the injured from their bombed homes, to the men who went underground in readiness for the invasion that never came, to the children who thought it was the most fun they’d ever had.
WE NEED YOUR HELP. Did you live in Kent through the last war and have stories to tell about that time? Did your relatives pass on their own experiences to you? Do you have any photographs, documents or memorabilia relating to the Home Front of any of the towns and villages mentioned below? If so please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be delighted to hear from you.
Every contribution, however small, will help to provide the fullest possible picture of a time that deserves to be remembered.
The first three books on Tenterden (including St Michael’s and Smallhythe), Rolvenden and High Halden are due for publication by the end of 2020. Further books, covering Cranbrook, Benenden, Woodchurch, Biddenden, Appledore and Bethersden will follow in the near future, with more to be added at a later date.
