The children of Farningham and Eynsford, Kent, have enjoyed charitable benefits since the bequest of Anthony Roper in 1597. Diana Beamish traces how these benefits helped to sustain education locally, from the foundation of the earliest school at Farningham in 1823, through the gradual merging of schools in both parishes to finally form Anthony Roper Primary School in 1973.
